ASIL Insights

ASIL Insights, the "international law behind the headlines," provide brief, balanced accounts of the international law issues raised by newsworthy late-breaking events. Insights, which are created as international law events arise, are distributed to subscribers and posted on the ASIL website two or three times a month.

Insights are not designed to argue a position, but rather to inform policy makers, journalists and the public about the international legal issues related to current events. If you have expertise in any field of international law and would be willing on short notice to write occasional Insights about current events, please get in touch with Scott Lyons, managing editor of ASIL Insights, at insights@asil.org.

ASIL may also post and distribute responses and addenda to an Insight where the addition clarifies what has been said in an Insight, points out relevant legal issues not already identified in the Insight, corrects a palpable error or adds relevant facts. Responses -- like Insights themselves -- should be brief, capable of being understood by non-experts, and as free of personal opinion as possible.
